1. Who we are
This website, ruhalife.org, is operated by RUHA Life Foundation (“the Foundation”, “we”, “us”), a non-political, non-profit charitable society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration No. S-15411/2026), with its head office at Flat D1, House 15, Road 7, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212, Bangladesh.
For any privacy question, write to info@ruhalife.org.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to serve you and to meet our legal and governance obligations:
- Donors: name, phone number, email, donation amount, fund, payment method, transaction reference and any message you choose to include.
- Membership applicants: the information required for our register of members — name, parents’ names, date of birth, gender, nationality, NID or birth-registration number, profession, contact details, addresses, nominee details and your areas of interest.
- Volunteers: name, contact details, age group, location, interests, availability and skills; and, for volunteers under 18, a parent or guardian’s name, phone number and consent.
- Enquiries and requests for assistance: the details you share with us through our contact form, by phone or by email.
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Technical data: basic information your browser sends automatically (such as device type and pages visited) as recorded by our hosting provider’s server logs.
We do not collect card numbers, bank passwords or mobile-wallet PINs through this website. Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone — including people claiming to represent the Foundation.
3. How we use your information
- To record and acknowledge donations and issue official receipts.
- To process membership applications, maintain the register of members and the subscription ledger, and manage nominations, as required by our Rules & Regulations.
- To match volunteers with suitable opportunities and keep them safe.
- To respond to enquiries and assess requests for assistance.
- To send updates you have asked for — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep accurate financial records for audit, statutory compliance and inspection by competent authorities.
We will never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
4. Why we are allowed to use it
We process personal information with your consent, to carry out a request you have made (for example, a donation or application), to keep the records our constitution and the law require, and for the legitimate purpose of running a transparent charity.
5. Who we share it with
Your information is used by authorised members of the Foundation’s team on a need-to-know basis. We share it only with:
- service providers who help us operate this website and deliver form submissions and email, under appropriate confidentiality;
- our appointed auditors, for the purpose of the annual audit;
- government or regulatory authorities where we are required to by law.
We will not publish a donor’s name if they have asked to remain anonymous.
6. Third-party services
Our website loads photographs from Unsplash’s image service, and our contact page displays an embedded Google Map. These providers may receive your IP address and browser information when content loads. Submitting a form sends your details to our form-delivery provider so that they can reach our inbox. Payments made by bKash, Nagad, Rocket or bank transfer are processed by those providers under their own privacy policies.
7. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may store small preferences locally — for example, figures you enter in the Zakat calculator are kept only on your own device so they are there when you return, and are never sent to us.
8. How long we keep it
Financial records, including donation records, are kept for the period required by law and by our Rules & Regulations. Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member and for a reasonable period afterwards. Other enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
9. How we protect it
Our website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access to personal information is limited to authorised people, and we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
10. Children
Membership is open only to people aged 18 and over. Young people under 18 may register as Junior Volunteers only with the written consent of a parent or guardian, whose details we collect for that purpose.
11. Your choices and rights
You may ask us at any time to access, correct or update your personal information, to stop sending you updates, or to delete information we are not required to keep. Write to info@ruhalife.org and we will respond within a reasonable time.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
